Nanowrimo2007: Not Writing

Word count after three days: 2401

Didn't get in my necessary word count either Friday or Saturday. While only the finishline (50,000 words) makes you a winner, keeping up with the daily word average (1667 words per day) is a way to make it all happen without undue stress or unhealthy amounts of caffeine.

So Friday evening was Vancouver's First Friday art walk. While I got home by 10pm, I was too wiped out to write another 1000 words. I went to bed, leaving my husband to catch a ride to Portland to another friend's art show opening. I got a loud drunk dial at 10:30 and then, a little after midnight, he called to say that his ride had left him on the side of the highway and he was walking home. I found him in Portland and had him home by 2am. Bad news: too exhausted to get up and write in the morning. Good news: now I know how one of my characters dies.

Yesterday non-writing stuff happened: an art workshop for myself and my daughter, trip to the library, dinner and a video. No writing at all!

So today is a good day for catching up. I need 4,267 words today to get back on track. At my current speed this is 8.5 hours. Thank goodness for that extra hour as we all "fall back" into standard time.
