Declaration Editing's Super Short Summer Serial Challenge

Tomorrow I will be posting the first episode of my story, The Language of Crows. This is a story I began working on in 2001 or 2002. It's never gotten very far. It was also my National Novel Writing Month story in 2007--I got to about 5000 words (of 50,000).

The challenge this month is to write a story in 9-12 episodes, each no more than 500 words. I'm going to condense my story from an Oprah-worthy epic into this short format. Just to be done with it. Perhaps then I can get on to other writing.

Look for Episode One tomorrow. In the meantime, here is a synopsis to whet your appetite:

When Jim’s mother dies, he learns that he could not possibly be her biological son. But the circumstances of his conception and birth are not revealed until his middle-aged daughter, Raven, receives a mysterious letter from a woman in South Carolina claiming to be her grandmother.
