Throw Out Fifty Things

One of the books not in the stack from the other day is Throw Out Fifty Things, since I just picked it up at the library about half an hour ago. Apparently something is transformational about 50 things, so I'll try it.

I keep a box in my car trunk for Goodwill and I pulled out 10 things to take a photo:

1) Plastic magazine file. [replaced by many wooden magazine files from IKEA]

2) Plastic skirt hangars. [replaced by many wooden skirt hangars from IKEA]

3) Lunch box that I purposefully scammed from the kids section at Wordstock, but don't use or need.

4) Thread holders: one purchased new, one inherited, one from Goodwill (not in photo). [replaced by plastic thread cases that will be easy to transport and keep thread dust free]

5) CD crate that I hand painted with my Grandma Marge in 1989. I recently paid my son to move all my music to iTunes and have no need of this crate. Future photos will no doubt show stacks of CDs after I've decided which to purge (and how.)

6) Glass vase with negative connotations

7) Silk sweater purchased from Goodwill Outlet (clothing by the pound!). Used when I got it, now hopelessly stained. I saved the little yellow buttons.

8) Beginner tarot cards from Goodwill.

9) Power supply (nearly new) for the Mac that died last fall, incompatible with all of the 3 laptops in the house.

10) Plastic bowls from Target a few years ago.

I was concerned when I started the list that I was just replacing things, not really getting rid of clutter. But it's not too bad. I hope future photos will show more real de-cluttering. Now I just need to get this stuff out of my trunk. Then it's really gone.
