Hookers at the Bookstore

So, two weeks ago in Denver, when I decided to learn to crochet (no success yet), I bought Debbie Stoller's new Stitch & Bitch guide, "The Happy Hooker." Then Rikki suggested I get the book, then Debbie Stoller turned up in Portland. It's all about convergence, baby!

I went to Powell's for Home and Garden on Tuesday (totally skipping band) to further my efforts to become "bi-craftual." The store is small and crafty people filled the seats. Some stood. Many knitted, fewer crocheted. Several of the PDX SuperCrafty girls were there, as well as Jen from Knot Ugly, who contributed a design to the book.

Debbie Stoller is funny, and obviously addicted to caffeine. She does her book tour by train, leaving lots of time to knit and crochet. She had a hard time keeping us on the topic of crochet, as opposed to knitting.

I gave her my Big Idea--after knitting and crochet, macrame will be the next yarn craft to see a resurgence. She better get on that.
