I had a party. I remember having a good time, but it probably didn't really meet my expectations. My own parties rarely do.
Regardless of the celebration, I was very happy to be 30. I already had a husband, two kids and a mortgage. I was ready to have my age reflect my responsibilities.
I'm not so sure about 40. I've heard that "40 is the new 20." But I've also heard that "plum is the new black" and on a commercial this weekend that "small is the new big." I'm finding it a little hard to believe.
Can I ask for insight into turning 40?--though most of my friends are still a few years from that point. Are you worried? Is it just a number? Do you also have goals before this benchmark? Is it morbid to have a countdown?
