I'm Writing a Novel!

Well, tomorrow.

First I have to make it through Halloween, a holiday my family loves, but me, not so much. It was more fun many years ago when I had children--but now I have TEENagers (both of them!) and it doesn't seem as cute. The Star will be staying home to do homework and hand out candy, since her plans fell through. The Magician, however, is full-on Trick-or-treating with some other 7th grade buddies (and parents). I have to get home this afternoon in time to sew up a sheet into God's tunic. Yes, The Magician will be playing God. :-) White beard and wig, tunic, and a sticker that say "Hello. My name is... GOD" Just in case some of our more devout neighbors (Eugenio, I'm looking at you--and your six children) get him confused with your run-of-the-mill Noah or Moses.

For the second year in a row I couldn't be bothered to carve my pumpkin.

I am, however, looking forward to tomorrow when I start National Novel Writing Month. I've mentioned this novel before, but it's never gotten anywhere. But now it has a whole month devoted to it. All I need to "win" is 50,000 words, which is something like 175 pages. A very respectable first attempt at writing a book.

One of the rules is that I can't begin writing until midnight tonight, but I have my first sentence already and I'm going to share it, rules be damned.
