I go to my part time job at 10am every weekday. Since I take the kids to school at 8:30, I get some time to myself each morning. Many times I go to a local coffee and crepe shop, where the owners are friendly, they hang local art and have free wi-fi. They also serve Stumptown, from a Portland coffee roaster. [Go local! Fight the corporate evil that is Starbucks!]
Today I started my novel there at Mon Ami. I wrote from 8:45 to 10:15 and I wrote 759 words. If I round that off to 750, I'm averaging 500 words an hour and I'll need 100 hours to reach my goal of 50,000 words by midnight on November 30.
I'm not sure it's possible. For me. Particularly since it seems that the first day should be the very easiest--the most to say, the entire story stretching ahead. Hell, I even cheated by writing the first 14 words yesterday. What do I do when I lose the thread, when the whole thing is crap and nothing makes sense. What will my hourly word count be then?
