We bought The Artist a DVD player for Father's Day. Says The Star: "Now if only we had cable TV and internet access, we'd nearly be an average American family." Smartass.
Some things got dropped in the Great Job Hunt of 2007. Like our DirecTV, dial-up internet connection and home phone service. We've since provided a cell phone to each person in the family, but I'm struggling with the TV and internet issue. I'd really like to have wi-fi at home. And for as often as the kids need it for school (pretty much expected by their teachers these days), some sort of access is neccessary.
But I'm not so keen on more TV. Though since we watch it non-stop anyway, at least we'd have more choices. Fewer "Two & a Half Men" reruns and more Alton Brown (is he even still on?).
I just don't know. Maybe we'll get a NetFlix account and just watch movies and old TV. I keep telling the kids that their arts-based magnet school is just like Fame, but of course they've never seen the movie or the TV show, so they have no clue what I'm talking about.
They will, however, get a chance to see "ET" on the big screen this summer. I've chosen it for the July 3 outdoor movie at the Historic Reserve. We'll have ice cream and kettlekorn for sale and Reese's Pieces. Mmm, tiny peanut butter flavored candy...
