There's No Place Like Home

Actually, this entry is not about home at all--it's about KANSAS.

I'm feeling pretty clever right about now. I've been trying for months to get my Alaska Airline miles figured out so that I could take a vacation to Lawrence, but they've been dragging their feet about crediting the Hawaiian Air, Delta, Hilton, etc. miles to Alaska. And so I kept coming up short.

Finally it dawned on me that since I was already going to the mid-west for a conference in Minneapolis, I might be able to jump an extra stop to Kansas City for about the same price. It turns out that it will cost $3 less to fly from Portland to Kansas City, stay a few days, fly to Minneapolis, stay a few days and fly home than it does to fly directly to Minnesota. Go figure.

So my vacation to Lawrence to see the Goddesses is being paid for by my employer and I get to save my Alaska miles to take The Artist to San Francisco in January (if I still have the same employer). That rocks.

My oldest friend (she'd prefer to be known as "the friend I've had the longest") will be driving up from The Natural State and Rikki will plan a gathering of incredible women and I will drink and kvetch and relax, sans husband, sans children, sans responsibility. Ahhh...

Since I'm into lists, here's five things I want to do in Lawrence:

1. Eat a full order of black bean quesadillas at Free State Brewery
2. Visit friends: Rikki and the Goddess Collective, Gretchen, Lisa, Shala, Mary and Richard, Brayden, Jennifer, Laurie
3. Stroll Mass Street
4. Hold, cuddle and smooch on Jackson L. (he's a baby!)
5. Revel in the fact that I no longer live in Kansas, but still can visit

I can't wait!!!!!BTW, I can't leave the Natural State until around 3:30 or 4:00, which gets me into Larry around 8:00ish. I hate my freaking job!
